Over the last few fishing charters in Tampa Bay, I’ve really experienced a roller coaster of emotions. It can be tough going out there during this time of year, and has been; but when that’s the case, you just have to put on your big boy pants, go out there, and get it done! That’s exactly what we have been doing here: waking up at the crack of dawn, throwing on thermals and foul-weather gear.
From the start, it’s not easy. That means braving cold and windy conditions to catch bait in the morning. This cold weather, honestly though, is probably worse for me than it is my customers. These past few weeks, almost all of my clients have been visiting Tampa from the Northern part of the U.S. For them, a windbreaker is all that’s been needed to stay warm and comfortable.
As far as the fishing itself goes, the bite has been pretty good. It’s been most productive the day immediately before a cold front, and then the two days following the front. This pattern is pretty typical for significant swings in temperatures. On the water, we have been catching snook, redfish, spotted seatrout, Spanish mackerel, sharks, and just about the whole cast of characters that are typically caught in Tampa Bay.
If you’re interested in chartering a trip with us, I have some availability for Thanksgiving week. Otherwise, I’m booked-up into December. Call now to get out and experience some of the best fall fishing I can remember in years!
