Good Snapper Fishing Offshore
The current on the full moon created some issues when we were in the Deepwater trying to catch our amberjacks Wednesday, but luckily with an adjustment into shallower waters we were able to continue red grouper hunting with great success.
Triggerfish Harvest Upcoming
Triggerfish are getting ready to close for harvest starting May 2nd making end of day May first the last time to land them for 2020, unless the season gets extended due to lack of quota being landed.
Good Snapper Fishing this Time of Year
Snapper action is great this time of year offshore. Now that were past the full moon were starting to see some good day time snapper action, plus this week’s overcast conditions definitely help the daytime snapper bite.
Snapper Excited by Full Moon
The Snapper action offshore this week, like near shore, was excited by that full moon. The nighttime fishing around 1-2 days ahead of the full moon is my favorite followed by a few days behind the moon.
Deepwater Closure of Grouper Now Over
The deepwater closure of grouper is now over effective April first. This means you can now harvest any grouper species besides gag grouper which is closed in any depth of water!
Mangrove Snappers OFF THE CHAIN!
Luckily the mangrove snapper bite was off the chain this past weekend for us around 120ft of water. We saw some big mangroves through the night biting well and even in the daytime we still picked em fairly consistently.
Triggers, Snappers, Groupers!
Triggerfish opened up March first and were excited to have a weather window coming up this week starting Tuesday March 10th to go get some of these great eating fish out in deeper waters offshore.
Tough Weather for Offshore Trips
Weather has been really tough to make our regular scheduled offshore fishing runs. We have not been deep since the last email newsletter due to weather.
Good Nighttime Bite
The 39 hour mid-week trip went well this week for us at Hubbard’s Marina. They had a great nighttime bite on snapper, tuna, and some strawberry grouper along with some heads and tails like almaco jacks, porgies and some yellowtail snapper.
Great Offshore Action
We had some great offshore action this past weekend aboard our 39 hour long range overnight fishing trip at Hubbard’s Marina. The new moon was in full effect and luckily it didn’t cause us to battle the current too badly even when we were fishing close to 250 foot of water during the trip.
Shifting Focus to 160-200ft Depths
The gag grouper season has ended offshore too, but we still have tons of fish to go target like red grouper, scamp grouper, mangrove snapper, vermillions and MORE.
